Football pro Tom Brady ends career once again

Star quarterback Tom Brady is ending his football career – for the second time. He’s calling it quits now, the seven-time Super Bowl champion said in a video message.

Superstar quarterback Tom Brady has ended his glorious career as an NFL professional for the second time. “Hi guys, I want to cut right to the chase. I’m calling it quits,” the most successful football player in history said in a nearly one-minute video posted to Twitter on Wednesday (01.02.23).

He thanked for being able to live his absolute dream. Then his voice faltered. Just over two weeks ago, Brady was eliminated by the 14:31 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL playoffs.

Retirement within 40 days

Already after last season’s elimination, Brady had declared his incomparable career over with a total of seven Super Bowl victories. However, 40 days later, the now 45-year-old athlete changed his mind and decided to stay in the Buccaneers jersey for another year. Now he stressed that his decision was final.

After a total of 23 years in the world’s best football league, it’s supposed to be over. “I know it was a pretty big deal last time,” Brady said. He had obviously sought out a spot on the beach for his video message, strong winds could also be heard in the background.

Not an eighth triumph

US media had recently already speculated about the end of his career, but a move to another team also seemed possible. The hoped-for eighth Super Bowl triumph is now denied him, but his seven rings for six victories with the New England Patriots and the one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in February 2021 are already a record and will remain so for years to come – no other still active professional in the NFL comes to more than three.
