Three teens arrested after fatal attack on father of three in Ohio grocery store

Three teenagers have been apprehended following a deadly assault on a triple father in an Ohio grocery store. The Columbus Police reported that the incident occurred on December 6 at 7:00 p.m. The three young men are said to have attacked the victim, 53-year-old Donnie Smith, in a Kroger grocery store, as reported by WSXY-TV.

After engaging in a dispute with customers inside the store, the suspects were asked to leave by security. However, the altercation continued outside, according to the police.

Smith was critically injured and transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. A friend present during the incident told WSXY that the group “tried to pick fights with anyone they could.”

Court documents reviewed by the local ABC station state that Smith was “unconscious and bleeding from the head due to the beating” and that the group “laughed and amused themselves” during the attack. Smith passed away two weeks after the assault, as reported by the media company.

The suspects fled the scene in a red vehicle, according to the police. The details of how the homicide detectives tracked down the teenagers were not disclosed.
